Janmashtami (Devanagari: जन्माष्टमी, transliteration: janmāṣṭami), also known as Krishna Janmashtami, Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanthi, is a Hindu holiday of the Krishna deity celebrating the birth of the Krishna avatar Hindu Visnu [1]. It is observed following the Hindu luni-solar calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of Krishna Paksha (waning moon phase) in the month of Shraavana of the Hindu lunar calendar and Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad of the Hindu luni-solar calendar, and overlaps with the months of August and September of the Gregorian calendar
